Over $10,000 raised during 2023's Sleeping in Cars

Wow what a night!

28 sleepers (and one furry friend) braved the cold to help raise awareness about homelessness in Haliburton County. Our Sleeping in Cars participants raised over $10,000 in pledges! Such a variety of different perspectives and stories were shared – and so many of us walked away knowing that our one night of discomfort was just the tip of the iceberg for so many. In the end, we are reminded of how grateful we are to have a home to go back to.

Here’s what some of them said:

“Growing up in the community, we have a friend whose family was supported by Place For People. Looking back, we can see firsthand the benefits of this agency and how you provide support best. “ Growing up in the community, we have a friend who’s family was supported by Place For People. Looking back, we can see first hand the benefits of this agency and how you provide support best. The night was cold but definitely an opportunity to understand what individuals facing homelessness go through. It was one to remember but also one to look forward to participating in next year!“ Victoria H.

“I appreciate organizations like yours - you do great work for our community!” Sabrina R.

“It was a fun night for both myself and Icy and wonderful to meet other like-minded individuals. “ Rosemarie L.

Thanks to all who participated and donated

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to all who participated and are looking forward to the next time we get to get together to share our passions for making Haliburton County a community where we can all thrive!
