2024 Sleeping in Cars raises over $30,000
The 2024 Sleeping in Cars event was a huge success with over $30,000 being raised. Places for People began the event many years ago to raise awareness for the need for affordable housing in Haliburton County. As the community became more aware of the need, it has responded in greater numbers.
A chilly night
This year, temperatures were low but spirits were high! We had over 50 registered “sleepers” and many other community members stopped by to support us.
Community partners come through
Thank you to community partners including Minden Subaru, Haliburton Chrysler and Woodhouse Web Works plus a big thank you to ACM Designs for fund-raising over $13,000!
Political support
Special thanks to Jennifer Dailloux, representing Algonquin Highlands, Bob Carter and Shirley Johannessen, representing Minden Hills, and Walt McKechnie, representing Dysart et al for attending and showing your support.
The money makes a difference
The funds raised will be used by Places for People to continue providing affordable housing across Haliburton County. Most importantly, it is heartening that people continue to spread awareness that the lack of affordable housing effects everyone in our community.
Donations still open
It is not too late to donate to the cause, click below to be part of affordable housing solution by making a donation directly through Canada Helps by choosing the Sleeping in Cars fund.
